this speaks volumes. not only do female pronouns appear far less often than male pronouns, but also, while men are described most often as “able” (to do something, presumably), women are described most often as “beautiful” and “dead.”

when women appear considerably less often in literature even today, it’s easy to see that sexism is alive and well.
