Yes but my god didnt the overwhelming sadness of the overall book overshadow that.

i mean this is one of my favorite books of all time and i made the mistake of rereading it this year and being subsequently emotionally destroyed by it but. sebastian flyte is immensely tragic as a character (though i adore him despite everything) but mostly i prefer to fixate on the first half of the book because charles and sebastian were in love.

also charles hurts me because he tried so hard to help sebastian and was willing to do nearly anything for him until sebastian had to up and disappear (and julia is certainly a surrogate for sebastian)
